G&E
Cabinetry, INC. History:
In 2000
Gered De Hoogh started Gered’s Country Cabinets working in a small shop on his parent’s acreage. After graduating
from NCC in Sheldon he purchased a
building in Sheldon and moved his growing business to town. The building was
renovated to suit his business and wood-working needs. The grand opening and
ribbon cutting for Gered’s Country Cabinets at the new location took place in
January of 2002. Since then, the business has flourished and Gered’s talents,
creativeness, and services have increased to accommodate his growing business
and customer demand. His brother, Evan De Hoogh, joined the business full time
(2008) in an effort to take the business to the next level. Gered and Evan,
through several years of working together, facilitate the skills to take their
customers through the entire process, from state of the art design, quality
construction, professional finishing, and second-to-none lead times. As people of
opportunity, and entrepreneurial minded, both Gered and Evan possess the drive,
work ethic, and values necessary to make a small business work in today’s
economic environment. As customer demands continuously change, they will continuously
strive for improvement in quality, product selection, and customer
satisfaction.
At the
start of 2009 Gered and Evan incorporated the business and officially became
partners. With name change G&E Cabinetry, Inc, and logo changes they are
continually in an effort to grow and become more efficient financially as well
as in the shop. This is a new chapter in the cabinetry business and one that is
necessary to stay on top of the market in the NW Iowa region and beyond. Changes also included major upgrades in machinery, tools and dust collection to increase productivity and precision while reducing lead times.
Gered of Sheldon, IA, and his wife
Gina have 4 kids, a son Gavin, and daughters Avery, Cambree, and Carly. They
both enjoy spending time with their kids and watching them grow. Gered is a
passionate outdoorsman and is very active in hunting and fishing activities. He
also enjoys spending time with his family, doing yard work, and home remodeling
projects. In addition to G&E Cabinetry, Gered also owns and operates
several rental-housing units throughout Sheldon.
Gered
graduated from Hull Western Christian High School in 1998, where he first had
his inspiration to do wood working. His talents and abilities surpassed many at
a higher level and his dream of starting his own business began in a high
school woods class. He decided to attend Northwest Iowa Community College,
graduating in 1999 from their carpentry program. There he learned the carpentry
skills necessary to be a problem solving craftsmen as well as a quality
builder. After several months of experimenting as an elk-hunting guide in the rough
terrain of Western Montana, Gered decided that Northwest Iowa was the place for
him and there he would continue his path of custom woodworking.
